Building a Fence to Protect Your Property Howdy! If you are planning to build a fence on your property, you will want to make sure you make the right choice. A good fence will last for many years and will help to protect your property from intruders and wild animals. It will also help to keep pets and kids inside the garden where they belong! I'm Tony and this is my fence blog. Last year, I spend a couple of months working alongside a fence contractor as he installed a wooden fence on my property. I learnt a lot of neat stuff which I would like to share with the rest of the world.

Tubular fences are a popular choice for pool areas. They provide a timelessly elegant look and are available in a range of designs and different metals. Here, you can learn about tubular pool fencing and how they can enhance your pool area.

Different Railing Styles

These fence structures consist of multiple tubular vertical bars with crossing horizontal railings along the top and bottom. A diverse range of forms is generally available, varying from clean, minimal designs to stylish decorative looks. Flat top fences, one example, are simply constructed with a top rail forming a smooth edge along the top. With loop top fences, one tube circles over to form two vertical bars; creating an ornamental flow. Other designs feature more elaborate metalwork which can include a spear motif in many forms. These provide the extra benefit of discouraging would-be climbers.

Aluminium Advantages

Typically, either aluminium or steel forms the base material. The advantages of aluminium are that it is lightweight, durable and naturally anti-corrosive. Aluminium originates from bauxite, with the extracting of alumina. This is then combined with other elements to produce different variations of the metal. Any aluminium object develops a film of aluminium oxide over its surface when exposed to oxygen, which forms a permanent and natural anti-rust barrier.

Instead of being painted, these fences are often powder coated to provide a smooth finish that is similar to a thick coat of epoxy paint. During this process, special spray-guns cover the metal with micro-sized beads of resins and pigments. Being electrostatically charged, they adhere to the surface. This is then baked on, providing a robust, and attractive, coating.

The Benefits of Steel

Sometimes steel forms the basis for tubular fences. This metal begins with a combination of iron and carbon, with other elements mixed in. Stainless steel is one type that includes high levels of chromium, which is naturally anti-corrosive. Other steels, besides the stainless variety, do rust, however. To counter this, it is generally either powder coated or galvanised to provide an anti-rust shield. Galvanised steel retains a protecting layer of zinc after a hot-dipping process within a bath of molten zinc. Steel can additionally be powder coated over the top as well to provide an attractive paint-like finish with added protection. Though steel is much heavier than aluminium and often stronger, this does depend on the particular metals as there are many different types of both aluminium and steel.

Tubular pool fencing is both attractive and durable. It is available in a stylish range of designs, and you can choose a colour to blend in with your particular environment.
