Two Things To Consider When Choosing Pool Fencing

Building a Fence to Protect Your Property Howdy! If you are planning to build a fence on your property, you will want to make sure you make the right choice. A good fence will last for many years and will help to protect your property from intruders and wild animals. It will also help to keep pets and kids inside the garden where they belong! I'm Tony and this is my fence blog. Last year, I spend a couple of months working alongside a fence contractor as he installed a wooden fence on my property. I learnt a lot of neat stuff which I would like to share with the rest of the world.

Here are some things you need to consider when choosing pool fencing.

The type of games your family play in or near the pool

You'll need to think about the type of games your family plays in or near the pool. For example, if you often play frisbee or football on the lawn by the pool, then a metal fence might be better than glass. The reason for this is as follows: if you get a glass fence and your family regularly fires frisbees and footballs in its direction, it is almost inevitable that the glass will eventually crack. Conversely, no matter how often you throw a frisbee or a football at a metal fence, it will not break. In this situation, it might also be best to get a pool fence that's slat-free or whose slats are in direct contact with each other so that the frisbees that get accidentally thrown in the direction of this fence don't pass through the slats and end up in the pool.

If you use beachballs, frisbees and volleyballs in the pool, you might need to get the contractor to make a very tall fence so that when you accidentally throw these items towards the fence, they won't fly over it but will just bounce off this tall barrier and go back into the water or land on the edge of the pool. This, in turn, will mean you won't have to get out of the pool and go through the pool gate to fetch these items every time this happens.

The location of the pool and its surrounding features

You'll also need to consider the location of the pool and its surrounding features. For example, if your pool is constantly in the shade because of the trees around it, then the fence contractor might tell you to use glass instead of some opaque fencing material, as the latter will just create more shadows that will make the pool look very gloomy and make the water even chillier (which would mean you'd need to use your pool's heating system more often). A glass fence, on the other hand, would not prevent any of the sunlight that comes through the trees from reaching the pool.

Conversely, if your pool has no source of shade whatsoever and you often end up overheated and sunburnt when you swim in it, the contractor might recommend putting up a tall, wooden fence that will offer you some shade when you're swimming on sunny days.
